Slab Is Getting Close

Crushed Rock Spread over site.

Today was more excavation and the spreading of crushed rock over the site.

The Building Inspector was on site this evening and explained the way the footings for the outdoor room work. Also questioned him on fill compaction and he was comfortable with what the builders had done.

Additional Footings For Outdoor Room

The building inspector will be the same person throughout the build.

The addition of footings for the outdoor roomwere dug, these will be filled when the slab is poured.

The porch shape is more obvious due to the cut-in.

We still have a number of outstanding questions with our Construction Customer Support Coordinator
(difficult to get any responses!)

  1. Hello Clyde and Karen,
Your progress seems to be only a couple days behind ours. It will be very interesting to see how yours goes up compared to ours here in SA.
We wish you all the best and shall keep an eye on your blog!

You have some gorgeous open views around your home.

Love your current site supervisor, very cute indeed.
Our golden has already been sniffing around her new to be home :)

    Enjoy,
    Adrian.

  2. Hi Adrian,
Yes we had seen you started at the same time so were interested in comparing progress.
It's been a long process to date, both with Metricon and the local council. We are in a bush fire zone which added cost and changing requirements following the review after Black Saturday.
We have numerous variations to date, I think we are up to 15, fortunately the financials are in our favour.
We are living on the site so can update regularly, Karen is away at present so I am adding additional photos to keep her up to date.
    Enjoy your Build
    Clyde
